I followed the river Ijssel north from Belgium to Amsterdam. This was an old grain mill along the way, currently a working museum.
Two icons of Amsterdam... canals and wooden 'shoes' (in the form of a boat)
"Welcome to Romania!" Where Dracula is apparently a major tourist draw, judging by the airport duty-free
After 2 days on my own in Budapest, I boarded the Viking Atla for a Western Danube cruise to Nuremburg.
I spent additional time on my own in Nuremberg, visiting the old town
My first stop on my return to Vienna was the Kunsthistorische Museum, with a stop for morning pastries in their restaurant
I took a train from Vienna to Prague, ending in the most run-down train station I've ever seen. Note the netting on the tower, boarded-up shops and blocked off crumbling pavement. It has gorgeous Art Nouveau details, but it's literally falling apart.
A friend and I took the train from Paris for a day trip to Antwerp, primarily to see their famous Art Nouveau architecture... starting at the train station itself
I no longer do a lot of touristy stuff when I visit Paris, but the views never lose their appeal
I visited Munich to see some of the city's famed Christmas markets
