Traveling by bus from Paris to Trier (Germany), we stopped in Reims to see the cathedral
In the morning we explored Trier, historically one of the largest Roman cities in Germany
After leaving Trier, we sailed to Bernkastel
The town of Cochem is surrounded by vineyards...
Before heading into the Rhine River Gorge, we visited Koblenz
After leaving Koblenz, we spent the afternoon sailing the scenic Rhine Gorge
We visited the town of Mainz...
There was a wine tasting excursion to Schloss Vollrads winery
I'd been to Speyer before...
The little town of Brienz was a quick break between Basel (where the cruise ended) and Zurich
The morning started with a lake cruise, giving us a distant view of the Alps we visited yesterday
I'm standing on my cabin balcony going through a lock... look how little clearance there is! And I love how clearly you can hear the birds.
This contraption was at the Tech Museum here and setting it in motion was the best 1 euro I've ever spent! (And no, I have no idea on earth what it is/does!)
Another beautiful night sailing on the river
The sun was setting as we left Strasbourg
On the way from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg.
In a few weeks, the cow herds will be moved up here to their summer pasturage.
